September 17, 2005        Puffy Muffin Restaurant and Bakery

Lady Sophistakat (Tracey) was our “Queen for the Day” and planned a fun brunch at the Puffy Muffin Restaurant and Bakery in Brentwood.  Lady Sophistakat teased us with a special invitation about the day.  The restaurant was packed but our “Lady” had a private dining room and waiter awaiting our arrival.  A place card, red hat pen, and special red hat chocolates adorned the table.  Besides Lady Sophistakat, Queen Cleopurrrtra (Faye), Ms.Kitty (Ms. Kitty), Princess Pink Panther (Brenda), Lady Felina (Vivian), and Catpurrrnium (Debbie A.) came to play today.  We also welcomed a new Kat, Baroness Von Meow (Linda).  Princess Pink Panther was not able to attend our August outing which happened to be her birthday month – so we gave her a big belated MEOW.  Lady Sophistakat presented Queen Cleopurrrtra with a special “Queen” gift and thanked her for getting us all together and for the new sisterhood which she loved being a part of.

Lady Sophistakat started the day off with an ice breaker which got us up and moving around.  It was a BINGO game.  Our task was to be the first to have signatures of Kats and Kittens in a row for a BINGO.  We had to find a KAT/Kitten who had on a necklace, who liked chocolate, who was retired, etc.  Catpurrnium had no problem finding the right KAT/Kitten to help her win her delightful prize.  Then our food was delivered and the room settled down and became very quiet as we enjoyed quiche and fruit which was delicious.  Lady Sophistakat then put us in two groups to compete for the next two games.  We learned a lot of interesting facts that most of us did not know about each other – we have a Kitten who is Johnny Appleseed’s relative, a Kat who sewed all of her own clothes in high school, a Kat who went to school with Oprah Winfrey, a Kitten who is African-American, a Kat who bought an RV just so her puppies could go on vacation with her, and a Kat who says she was a runner-up to the Ms. American pageant in 1969.  We will have to play that game again to find out secrets about our other Red Hat Sisters!!!  The last game was KATIONARY and we learned from this game that Kats/Kittens should not try to draw!!  But what fun we had getting to know each other better.  Lady Sophistakat had the cutest prizes for us, red hat buttons and adorable little red hat ornaments.

“We had a great time laughing and being silly in a Kats in Red Hats way.

And when only the memories remained of our day of fun,

                           Everyone was able to say,

This is something we are glad to have done!"

Thank you Lady Sophistakat for a wonderful day – it was just Purrrrrfect!!
