AUGUST 12, 2006 - CAVING, BINGO, AND PICNIC

Dutchess AristaKat (Amy) planned our August Kats and Kittens Outing.  We started at the Cracker Barrel for a good ole' country breakfast.  Along with Dutchess AristaKat were: Princess Pink Panther (Brenda), Sassy Kat Woman (Shawn), Kountess Katnip (Samantha), Princess Tina, and Joey the Jaguar.  We all ordered more than our stomachs could handle but we needed the energy for our caving adventures!

We headed 65 north bound to Mammoth Cave, KY with good music, good friends & great laughs!  As we reached our exit we had to search for a rest stop and a post office!  Luckily, the National Park had a post office!!  Meow for stamps ladies!  We reached the tour check in just in time for the next group to sign up. The gentleman in the ticket booth had to have been slightly frustrated with us because we couldn’t decide which tour to take, he remained very nice and informative, and showed us some true hospitality!  After much discussion we chose the Mammoth Cave Discovery-Self Guided Tour. We felt we could brave it alone!!!  It was fairly warm out that day and we were relieved to step into the cool climate of the cave.  One of the rock formations where we were walking appeared like a man’s face and I thought it was obvious but only Joey Jaguar and I could see it. One of the tour guides asked where we were from.  It turned out he knew someone we all went to high school with and we just had to get a picture with him. After our marvelous tour of the cave we headed back to the cave entrance.

On the way out of the National Park we stopped for lunch at a beautiful picnic area. We had homemade chicken salad with croissants, chips, homemade cherry pie, iced tea & lemonade!  We then stopped off at Diamond Caverns to browse through the welcome center and gift shop. Sam got to crack open her own zygote and was delighted to find the jewel coated surprises inside! We then decided to mine for jewels and Joey Jaguar found some real treasures.  We weren’t all as lucky but it was a lot of fun and we left with some beautiful gems & jewels!

We hit the road again and headed back towards Tennessee.  Making a stop in Franklin at Bingo World, we had dinner & tried our luck at winning. Being oh so close too many times the frustration grew, but no luck on this trip L

Thank you Dutchess AristaKat for planning a purrrfectly wonderful day for us.
