John Isaac Cunningham

Book B, p.125

Nancy Tennessee Weakley

[photo of chimney] Mch. 16, 1962. All that is left after more than a hundred years. The old Cannon home burned in 1960.

Robert Henry Weakley

Robert was a member of the first county Court when Cheatham County was formed May 5, 1856 at Sycamore Mills.

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Weakley

Her only child, James Robert Weakley, was born in 1843. Her husband married again 10 Aug 1845; thus, it can be assumed that Elizabeth died either in childbirth or a short time later.

James Robert Weakley

Did not marry.

He died of Typhoid fever.

William John Anthony Weakley

He was found dead in the field while plowing. [Murdered --- later the killer confessed at an evangelist meeting].

Joshua Weakley

No record of Joshua Weakley was found in Virginia, except as shown on pages 26 and 27 [estate of Peter Coffee]
The first record of Joshua in Tennessee was as follows:
(Davidson Co deed D p 181) Robert Weakley sold to John Dillahunty on Aug. 30, 1796 his Nor. Car. Grant 2382 of 640 Acres, Dated Dec. 17, 1793. This land was on the south side of Big Harpeth River, in the South west section of Davidson Co at Pasque and Tank. The witness to the deed was Joshua Weakley and Edward Blackburn...
Joshua was also chain carrier for Robert Weakley in 1797 on a White's Cr. survey and again on a survey of a 3840 Acre tract on Stone's River in 1801...
Morgan Brown sold to Joshua Weakley on March 29, 1805, 197 3/4 Acres for $550, on the East Fork of Yellow Creek, and one mile above Morgan Brown's Old Forge. (Montg. deed B p 744)

[e-mail, 4 July 2002] He is incorrectly listed in the 1820 federal census index for Montgomery County, Tennessee as Josiah Westley, and his listing is adjacent to that of Thomas Watson, an ancestor of mine. I found Joshua's correct name in an 1820 Montgomery County deed, where he is listed as an owner of land bordering that which was owned by Thomas Watson (RE: Montgomery County Deed Book T, page 1076, dated 11 February 1820.)
Thomas Watson, like Joshua Weakley, was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia. Since Joshua Weakley named a son Andrew Jackson Weakley, there is another possible connection. The Thomas Watson that lived next door to Joshua Weakley was a former business partner with Andrew Jackson. Thomas Watson is also known to have built several grist mills and at least two iron furnaces, one of which was on Yellow Creek in Montgomery County, TN, where Joshua Weakley and Thomas Watson lived. Interestingly, I have never found a connection between this Thomas Watson and the Ehud Watson that is listed in your GEDCOM. (I do have some information about Ehud's ancestry that is not in your GEDCOM, and I would be delighted to share it if you are interested.) Based on the information in your GEDCOM, Thomas Watson and Hanna Weakley apparently left Prince Edward County, Virginia and went to Davidson County, Tennessee at about the same time (c 1796). From Davidson County, Thomas Watson and Joshua Weakley moved northwest to Yellow Creek in Montgomery County. Since Joshua may have been a surveyor, they may have had some type of business relationship. I'm also trying to determine if the Coffee/Coleman connection might help tie these people together. Steve Watson

Joshua C. Weakley

Did not marry.

Mentioned twice in Guardianship papers, Julyu 28, 1834 (Mont. will G p 58) and Jan 18, 1836 (Montg. will G p 325)

Benjamin T. Weakley

Did not marry.

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Weakley

Her only child, James Robert Weakley, was born in 1843. Her husband married again 10 Aug 1845; thus, it can be assumed that Elizabeth died either in childbirth or a short time later.

Capt. John Weakley

Montg. Co. minutes 5 p 143. John Weakley was issued Letters of Administration for Hannah Weakley, deceased. July 18, 1814. (This was his mother).

Kittie Weakley

Recollections in the family vary, one is that she died young; another that she married a man named Sanders or Stewart and died with no children.
Montg. Co. marriage records are not available so as to verify this marriage.

Girl Weakley

Died young.

William John Anthony Weakley

He was found dead in the field while plowing. [Murdered --- later the killer confessed at an evangelist meeting].

Anna Wall

[Died age 33 = 17 days after 9th child (in childbirth)]

David Weakley

Lydia Victoria Weakley

Did not marry.

Mary (Polly) Jones

No other record, except where she was heir to her grandfather Jones' estate on Nov. 11, 1843 in Robertson Co.

John Sandridge Jones (section C 8-6-1) once stated that with the exception of his brothers and sisters and their families, that there were no other Jones kin. This would indicate that Polly did not marry.

Boy Jones

Dead at time of 1830 census of Dickson Co.

Elizabeth Matthews

Sister to Bucker Matthews

David D. Jones

Did not marry.

Montg. Co. will K p 664. David's grandfather's will dated Oct. 6, 1847 states: Eliza Jones is deceased, leaving only one heir, David Jones, a grandson of mine.
