Her second husband was Charles Gordon Carter with whom she had 8 more children, (half brothers and sisters to my Grandfather). The children of Zachariah William Irby, Jr. and Artemisia Cato Williams (Irby) were Leon William Irby (8-12-1891) and Reuben Irby (after 1891). Leon William Irby was my Grandfather. Reuben died in infancy. 2. Mary Ella (Ellen) Hicks with whom they had the following: Milton (1903) and ? Ertel, Corinne (1906) and George Rogers, Marie (1908) and Guy Andrews, Mildred (1910) and James Williamson Busey, Harold (1912) and 1. Betty Roth 2. Gloria Hupt, Newburn (Clay) -1920. He was still living in Satsuma, Ala. as of a year and a half ago. Zachariah Wm. Irby, Jr. left Mary Ella (Ellen) Hicks in 1926 and did not marry a third time. Zachariah William Irby, married to Sarah C. Martin, is buried at the Martin Cemetery, Energy, Clarke County, Miss. He was born 1822 in Halifax Co., Va. and died in Energy, Miss. in 1905.
