Howard G. Manning

1e-mail. "Howard G. Manning, 77, Clarksville, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at his residence. The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Walter Reed officiating. The remains are to be cremated. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until the service at the church. Neal-Tarpley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Clarksville, son of Howard Marable Manning and Bertha Weakly Manning Richardson. He was preceded in death by a son, Steve R. Manning. Mr. Manning was a retired operation foreman for Conwood Corp. He was a member, board member and deacon emeritus of First Christian Church. He was former troop leader of Boy Scout Troop 514 and former TSSAA football official. Survivors include his wife, Ann R. Manning; a son, Patrick H. Manning, Dallas; a daughter, Jan Manning Herndon, Clarksville; a sister, Virginia Wolcott, Hixon; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Owner of Nicks Hardware and son of the late Albert and Myrtice Fussell Nicks and brother of the late Reba Nicks. Surivors include his wife, Earline Turner Nicks of Dickson; his son, Samuel Turner Nicks of Dickson; his daughter, Margo Nicks Ashby and her husband, Tim of Madisonville, KY and his three grandchildren, Evan Ashby, Nicklaus Ashby, and Kelly Ashby. His remains are in the care of the Taylor Funeral Home, Dickson, TN, where VISITATION WILL BE MONDAY, JANUARY 19th FROM 2 til 4 P.M. and 6 til 8 P.M. and TUESDAY JANUARY 20th FROM 12 NOON TIL TIME OF SERVICE at 2 P.M. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. George Caudill, Dr. B.J. Smith officiating and Bro. Steve Baggett giving the committal service at the Place of Rest at the Dickson Union Cemetery.
