In the name of God Amen. I Asa Hodges of the county of Sumner & State of Tennessee ___ of sound & perfect mind & memory do bless God Almighty for the same. do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner & form ___ that is to say first I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Jemima Hodges all my estate real & personal during her matural life or widowhood ____ wise here in mentioned, secondly I give and bequeath to my four sons vix Ransom L (F?) Hodges, Creed C. Hodges, Asa M. Hodges and Alfred J. Hodges ___ land one hundred and seventy nigne acres to be equally divided ___ at the death or marriage of my beloved wife. Jemima Hodges, to them and their heirs forever and ___ atht edecease or marriage of my wife I give and bequeath my negro girl Riller with her increase ___ my personal property to be equally divided between lawful heirs

I appoint Merdith Hodges my sole executor of this my last will and testament further it is my wish for all my just debts to be paid out of my estate. ______children schooled and when any one of my children come of lawful age to ___ for themselves I wish my executor to give them such a portion of my chattle property as he may deem necessary ____ due regard to an equal division of the ____ of my beloved wife Jemima Hodges. I hereby revoke all former will by me hereto fore made. In witness ___ of I have here set my hand and seal this 23rd day of ____the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty three
