When Ford Field opened its doors in 2002, it marked the return of the Lions to downtown
Detroit for the first time since 1974. The $500 million development project includes a giant, glass
wall that reveals the Motor City's skyline and the old Hudson's warehouse, which originally was built
in 1920 by Hudson's department store as a seven-level repository for fine linens, furniture and light fixtures.
The impressive stadium hosted the 2006 Super Bowl and has been selected as the site of the 2009 Men's Basketball
Final Four.
